Cercis canadensis Seeds

Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) is considered to have once been native to the southernmost part of Ontario. Though no natural areas have currently been found it is still a popular choice for landscaping gardens as far north as Toronto. Short trunk and rounded crown with spreading branches. Its unique heart shaped leaves and vibrant pink spring blossoms make it a very attractive tree. Prefers medium to moist soil and lightly shaded locations. Does not tolerate standing water. Flowers and seeds are edible.  Great for the pollinators!
